If you choose to seek private treatment, you can often self-refer.
We are not able to suggest any services outside of the NHS and it is the patients responsibility to research possible consultants/ services and be able to give us this information.
Some consultants will only see patients that have a referral from a GP. If you require a referral from your GP this will need to be discussed – please book an initial telephone appointment with a doctor to discus your referral further. You should provide details of the Consultant name, Hospital, secretary contact details including telephone number and email address at this telephone appointment.
If your chosen private provider requires medical information about a you, this can be provided by supplying copies of hospital letters you have received or by sharing your medical records via the NHS App.
If a private provider requests more information from a general practice, this can be provided, following consent, and the cost of preparing the report will be charged to the private provider.
Private providers can make referrals to NHS services, without referral back to the GP, provided the patient would be eligible for NHS referral. Any patients referred will be treated based on clinical need.
