Caldbeck Surgery Introduces All‑Electric Vehicle for Prescription Deliveries

All‑Electric Vehicle for Prescription Deliveries

Caldbeck Surgery has recently added a new all‑electric van to support our prescription delivery service and GP home visits. The image above shows the van out on the fells on a clear day, looking across the landscape toward High Pike — part of the area our team covers each week.

Collecting regular prescriptions can be particularly challenging in a rural community, especially for patients who have mobility difficulties, limited access to transport, or long distances to travel. Our delivery team operates four days a week across our 100‑square‑mile practice area, helping ensure that patients continue to receive their medication safely and reliably at home.

When not in use for deliveries, the van will also support our GPs carrying out home visits.
The introduction of the electric van is an important part of our wider commitment to environmental sustainability and supporting the NHS Net Zero target. This follows earlier investments, including the installation of Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) two years ago.

The vehicle is being supported by the Caldbeck Surgery Charitable Fund, with the remainder supported by practice funds. We are grateful for the continued generosity of all who donate to the charitable fund.
We look forward to the van becoming a familiar sight around our practice area, from valley roads to high fell routes such as the view shown above.
